Re: A hypothesis

Fuki wrote What I'm missing is how you have any evidence of any forum members here having abnormal neurological thingies due to their practise. Of course you are missing it as I never claimed it (evidence) A scientific hypothesis is the initial building block in the scientific method. Many describe ...

Re: A hypothesis

Belief have everything to do with it. If you did not believe then why would you export your thoughts and ideas about it? On whatever scale you want to put it on, you do believe. Call it a hypothesis if you want. It does not change the facts. Wrong - totally wrong Its a hypothesis - an idea that is ...

Re: A hypothesis

Now, lets pull apart the other end of the spectrum to Hakuin: Shikantaza, the "gentle practice" Perfect peace in the moment. It hardly fits the classic perception of a seizure. But, it is only another mind-state that can be induced through Zazen, for some ! I fall into this mind-state after around 3...

Re: A hypothesis

Whatever Michaeljc proposes is fine for him Its a hypothesis. Belief has nothing to to do with it Now lets look at Hakuin - the extreme Rinzai He pushes himself to the maximum, "gritting his teeth" in determination, sitting right through days and nights until eventually he starts reporting multiple...

Re: A hypothesis

What ever I experience or ponder cannot be disproven therefore I am free to believe as I see fit Right? :113: Right through the hundreds of posts I have read on Zen forums I see certain practitioners making judgements on what is bona fide Zen and what is not. Their experiences and perceptions are al...

Re: A hypothesis

People, get ready to rumble I have no time right now but in due course I will be provocative. The theme will be that you's all are just activating neurological functions through your practice. Your "ground breaking" experiences are nothing but personal perceptions and cannot be held up as universal....

A hypothesis

A person very dear to me started to have strange boughts of sudden mood and behaviour change about 4 years ago. Doctors diagnosed PTSD. I was not satisfied and embarked on a long journey of research that is still progressing. From the beginning I was asking “Should she not be checked physically?”. I...

there were no instructions from Dogen or the founding Soto priests in Japan to pick up a Koan or phrase ala Tahui or Hakuin Wrong - sorry. There are very explicit instructions (according to the translation) from Dogen. The text I refer to is buried among other stuff. Once I find it I will quote lin...

Re: personal/meditation experience(s)

Hi Avi I have always been interested in the significant difference in how Zazen affects different people. Therefore, please take the following as being from one perspective only. I suggest: Buy yourself a kitchen timer Set yourself a basic time to sit to. IMO (and from what we see from others) this ...
