Re: The UK vs Iran

Zen is %50 devil(ish) - %50 fighting with the devil Please elaborate. I have no clue what you are talking about. Similarly, what influence, in your view, do the relations of the UK and Iran have on world peace? You have referred to “peace” several times recently in this and other threads. What is p...

As far as i see the world peace lays
in the UK - Iran peace.
World peace lies in "Sīla, samādhi, paññā (Virtue, concentration, wisdom). So maybe you are correct about U.K. - Iran but without virtue it is hopeless. Nation states are completely tangled up in lies and lying.

Re: Upcoming Public Talk: "Growing Old in Zen"

Grow old with it, if you must, or wanna, sure. But Samsara (samsara) is no great shakes. I wouldn't feature it in my Resume. It’s the greatest shakes there is. Would you want your resumé to be a blank slate? Your resumé is how you are with Samsara. When I come back, You are already back … Samsara i...

The reason is that "Zen" does not register in the mind of samsara ("Travelling"). And, it cannot. Simply DOES not.
Zen and Samsara are as old as the hills, ever looking out for each other.
It cannot be otherwise and IS not.

Re: Entry into Emptiness

Here is a useful approach to the meaning of samadhi and dhyana from a practice perspective: https://beingwithoutself.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/becomingoneandbeingwithoutself.pdf Thanks for the link. (in part) a teisho, talk, discourse on the Cula-suññata Sutta, it seems to me, though he doesn’t m...

Re: Entry into Emptiness

In Rinzai, in my understanding, practice, primarily zazen but also chanting, work, etc, can sometimes bring about samadhi, or empty mind. Is samadhi or empty mind an entry into emptiness, ie a platform or position by which we can examine the parameters (if any) of emptiness, as the sutta is describ...

It would be surprising if you say you find peace in this haiku.

Re: Entry into Emptiness

Falling into emptiness or abiding in any state is one danger wise advice would help us avoid. "Therefore, Ananda, you should train yourselves: 'We will enter & remain in the emptiness that is pure, superior, & unsurpassed.” What do you refer to, Caodemarte, with “falling into emptiness”? I know tha...

The whole world is suffering. Emptiness is the cure teaching.
The whole world has always been suffering.
Emptiness has always been “pure, superior & unsurpassed”.
Where is the cure?

Entry into Emptiness

https://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/mn/mn.121.than.html#fn-1 I enjoy and appreciate the relentless inevitability of this sutta’s structure. I insist that I patiently read and absorb the repetitive phrasing, savoring my boredom and desire that it quickly “get to the point”. But, read slowly, lik...

What benefit comes from throwing a Koan at people? It is neither theirs to wrestle nor theirs to answer And where is the other end? No teacher? Oh come on ... if not a wrestle how about a wee tussle and tumble. Go ahead, give it a squeeze. However it came your way ... thrown, given, stumbled upon ....
