Niggles include being loomed over by others in my zendo, which as I'm five feet two and they are all over six foot is all of them, oh and men who talk leeringly about cars, bikes and sprockets :558:

Kanji, who knows anything or can contact her?

Kanji has not logged in for 3 weeks, following her health troubles. Does anyone have any news?? Maybe the admins have some details they can contact her or her family on?

Re: Calming the Mind

For me it's to pay attention and be aware of it, whether calm or not calm, or making plans or not making plans. The broader and deeper the attention, the fewer 'impositions', mental constructs we superimpose onto what is happening, there are. Early spring. Pink mountaintops at dawn. Yet in the field...

Re: For Avisitor...Is Zen thinking of no-thought?

Avisitor has said that :"Common mistake of Zen Buddhist practice is to believe meditation is to stop thought" Avisitor we can talk here under this thread. Could you clarify your words here. There is three possibility in zen practice, as far as i can see.Stopping thoughts, watching thoughts and usin...

Re: Dear Members

Clyde, Kim is not coming and saying "do you guys want to try Dzogchen?" Mind you, the tag at the top says "an online place to discuss Zen Buddhism", so that would seem to be out of place. He is coming and saying "here's my method for quick kensho" - kensho is a Zen term. And he is saying that Zen te...

Re: Here's How To Kensho

Regardless of the merits of Kim's techniques, this thread makes something of a mockery of the recent rule of no teachers on the forum. Here is Kim, a self-proclaimed teacher, coming to the forum to teach something that ostensibly trumps the mainstream Zen teachings. And no actual Zen teachers to res...

Haikus are pretentious.
As if anything real can be made to fit to this meter and form.
Only fantasies.

Re: What to do about Zen forum Moderators and controversial behavior

If you don't understand the absurdness you can't understand the sword. And if you don't understand the sword you can't understand the way of the sword. In the Beginning was the Word. And the Word was Sword. And then came the Absurd. I like plain speech, Friend. Direct, honest, open, to the point and...

Re: What to do about Zen forum Moderators and controversial behavior

Good people. What makes us a good person or bad? It is not that you are good when you think and say i am a good person. What matters is the practice. If you are living zen in the way of the practice only than you may call yourself good may be. And i've some words for clyde: Clyde to be honest i don'...

Re: What to do about Zen teachers and controversial behavior

Since Jundo is not here to reply, we should probably delete both Linda's and my comment. It's of course a matter of perception and opinions do differ on whether it was the right decision, etc. All I did was present my view of the situation as a corrective to what Linda posted. But others will differ.

Re: What to do about Zen teachers and controversial behavior

Apologies to Jundo and others for any misunderstanding. My comments could be misunderstood: Controversial teachers have already been banned from this forum. Dosho Port just published an article in Patheos on Kensho/Makyo today. I'd say the title is only a hint of what he has to say relative to just...

Re: What to do about Zen teachers and controversial behavior

Regarding the Shimano discussion, I recall there were many suggestions (including in the media) that it had helped blow the whole thing wide open, while there have been many who for years tried to hush it up and keep the status quo. There are many epithets flung around like muck-raking, dirt on thei...

Re: Zen or nonzense

I think I've mentioned my views of what makes a good forum a number of times, so I feel I shouldn't really be taking more air, other than say that whatever vision clyde has, I hope he is more resolute than I had been in mine. Looking back, I had felt like an impostor or at least an imposition on man...

I could've sworn I had written to you about it, fuki. At the time, I simply didn't know how to reset it. I still don't. But others might.

Though I do suspect that warning levels are empty and lack inherent substance.

Re: site's Attachment-quota has been reached

This microcosm of life, a small hub of zennies and oddballs, is indeed full of disappointments, frustrations and just plain rubbish. Well, colour me surprised!

I also hope we all return, El G, Anders, and other members. And that we keep on returning.
But for a good reason.

Re: Dear Members

It's clear that many folks don't agree with this change. But I suggest we look beyond our preferences for a moment and bring out the best in us to see what we can make of this place, of this opportunity to come together and share our practice, our love of Zen. Who knows, perhaps in time, the teacher...
