Beginner Question
The Sword way
The most important specification of the sword is
straightness.
Straightness means honesty.
i, myself plan or consider to make honesty my main principle of life
just honesty
i'm planing to build everything on honesty.
it will be like a carrying column or the basis
of everything
and let everything flourish on this
any thoughts welcome

Re: Beginner Question
1st thought: “The boy who cried wolf”, Aesop
2nd thought: Thanks for starting a new thread.
3rd thought: Not all swords are straight. All effective swords are sharp, keen, well honed.
4th thought: Sounds like another game.

Each of us has something hang out in our minds.that doesn't make to work properly.
Are we disabled?
When will we be free?

Re: Beginner Question
So? let it hang, let it float, let it arise and pass, it's just weather/traffic.
If you want to look at it that way the human condition isn't the pinnacle of being, we're all born and have experiences which differ, the sum total of all our experience is like the weather, or what we call "me" There's really no issue there. the issue or "disability" is making it into a self-narrative, rain or shine both have their function. Are we disabled?
https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Nisargada ... aj#FreedomWhen will we be free?
"Nothing can set you free, because you are free. See yourself with desireless clarity, that is all."
OK?

Re: Beginner Question
both for Fuki and james
I've always been a perfectionalist.
many things there were have been i miss in life because of this..i make the perfect plan for every issue i intent but the perfect one but couldn't be able to put it into practice.and always choose the simplest way.
my life flows like this.
as james put it out the mastery is to be able to put it into practice.(at least for me, which i have never been able to succeed on).that's by not looking the perfect way of it but by beginning right here and now even with the smallest step in whatever the condition you are in.
otherwise the life is short.and sad but there will always be a possibility of missing life.
and i won't do that.

One may feel that one is missing the life desired and is somehow burdened by the life experience as it is.
Is this what you mean by “missing life”? ... being entangled in futile cravings for a “better” life while life as it is is slipping away? These cravings themselves are life as it is. We can only patiently, bravely live the life as it comes into being.

Making your own rules now??loves' the unjust wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 5:50 pmno[james] wrote: Not all swords are straight.

What was the question again?
You plan to make honesty your main rule?
Then what were you doing before? Not being honest??
If you can not be honest with yourself then how are you going to be honest with others??
I wish for you the very best and hope you will find it in your life.

for making me a big mouth.(i mean you encourage me to talk)
let's begin with sword
why sword?
because it is the most straightforward (or right)
i think we all agree on that is the way has two properties;
1-the selflessness
2-no end to it
the sword tells us this
if you know honesty, it is to add nothing to what's happening or to your self and by this this is kind a forgetting self
no end and no self
thinking loudly here
i guess honesty will accommodate you this
Peace!

Re: Beginner Question
Sword of Manjushri is Wisdom.
(True-)Wisdom comes from effective, correct practice. Usually a teacher and sangha will help, most maximally.
Yes, we can make various "resolves", and promises to ourselves, outside of correct practice (considering Zen Buddhist practice, here). But the outcome may be unreliable.
The Three Poisons arise endlessly, no matter how we work. But this is not a reason for pessimism! It's a reason to practice correctly.

Three poisons arise endlessly.
That one must shed the use of this mind to move forward to Nirvana.
Strong practice!
