Why don't you try it one time and see?

You are at a definite geographical disadvantage in terms of finding other zen students nearby to practice with and be supported by, or a teacher to talk face-to-face with. Between previous discussion here and books you have probably read, I'm sure you have at least a beginner's understanding of practice. So you already know that the fundamental practice of zen, which is zazen, is primarily an inner process, and will "happen" or proceed according to one's own inner motivation and persistence. Each one of us has our own responses to our own practice challenges, as practice evolves over time. So yes, you will see (experience) by yourself: if, if, you ever, finally, after 15 years, decide to actually try to practice.

While practicing Zen we are human beings, aren't we? So we care what we care for.

Perhaps we become more aware of this 'caring'. See it clearer for what it is.

Until when we care, we just care.

my neighbour took her plants, from her terrace into the hallway, since its winter.
sadly, she is not around.
so, i have to water the plants,
or else, they are going to die of thirst.
which i would not like, at all.
ok, gonna water them, again.
and gonna ask her, once she returns.

but i dont keep plants.
now im forced to water hers.
its not a big deal,
but, pls, take care.
and, loves, you are asking, again?
hopefully, one day

Maybe they are going to adopt you.
Would you refuse?

You don’t keep plants yet now you do.
What is forcing you? The plants?

in fact, i would gladly recommend koan practice to any soto practitioners.

Mason is quoting Nansen from Mumonkan chapter 19.
