It should be good! Best wishes to all attendees.

Coincidentally, Meido, today is the anniversary of the ending date of the first Ch'an retreat I attended. This was with Ch'an Master Sheng Yen, held outside the City at Bodhi House in East Setauket, NY (Long Island), from May 24-31, 1979. I count my "Buddhist-age", reckoning from that retreat; that makes me 39, a Jack-Benny's-age.

Strong Solstice practice, all. May the Sun stand still for everyone!

And full moon too now Joe, congratulations!
Last time my orchids bloomed it was the night of a full moon, they look ready to "pop" now too, moonlight will shine on the windowsill tonight, "favourable" conditions to all!

No offense guys (and i appreciate tbe good wishes): but can you see how the last two posts were largely off topic, and started a game of free association? From the sesshin of the OP, to a retreat long ago and the solstice, to moon and orchids, to...

If I were to now post about the orchids that I have and how they're doing... or about the moon and how it looked here the other night...it would continue the game. But the subject of the OP - an upcoming event, in this subforum meant for discussing events - would further recede, eclipsed by talk turning in each poster's own direction.

I'm pointing this out here (gently enough i hope) because it's the kind of well-intentioned but drifting posting that has been a subject of some discussion lately, and which we've tried to keep focused in the Lounge. When we talk about possible excessive posting that doesn't add substantially to a discussion topic, this may serve as an example. I'm guilty too upon occasion.

Again, not meaning to hurt any feelings...just using this as a teaching moment vis a vis the forum. Consider this a soft moderator intervention.

I'd be happy to discuss or answer any questions about sesshin - a rather important/crucial Zen training form - and even happier to share details regarding this one, if anyone is interested.
