Post by Meido » Fri Jan 19, 2018 8:48 pm

January 19 for both. Join me in reading a bit from each today to commemorate these worthies:

Obviously depth of attainment does not correlate with the day! Thank you :)

It's my habit to read a little Hakuin and Dogen on Jan. 19 to try and set the tone for my own coming year.

Ha - The seasonal equivalent of my own birthday (6 months) -and- when cherry and plum blossoms will be bursting forth in China and Southern Japan

4 years ago I planted flowering cherries in memory of Hakuin. They went into hungry soils but are doing OK. They have to fight for life

Happy birthday Meido!

It's the 20th here but I'll read some Hakuin with you when the sun rises, it has been a while. No Dogen for me, I can't aquire his flavour, not my kind of music.

Happy birthday to all!

Something about Capricorns must jibe with Zen...probably the depressive moodiness

Seriously though, if anyone here isn't familiar with the Terebess site I linked to earlier, it's a treasure trove. It's not clear to me that everything has been posted there with permission from copyright holders, so use with gratitude and care. Still, it's an excellent (and growing) collection.

Meido,

 Pluto in Capricorn, new ideas about Capricorn. I recently heard an astrologer turn the stereotype of Capricorn upside-down.... he went back to ancient origins in mesopotamia.... Capricorn can be seen as a creative and competent energy with a higher octave of heart.... have fun!

Some of us Capricorns are definitely a depressed and moody bunch. Reading Wild Ivy reminded me of my own youthful fears of hell and death. Meditation helped immensely.
