Thich Nhat Hanh, still Thich-ing...

Post by desert_woodworker » Wed Jan 30, 2019 10:55 pm

I heard a bit today on USA's National Public Radio, an afternoon segment called "The World", but heard only the tail-end of it.

It was clearly about the Vietnamese Thien Master Thich Nhat Hanh, but it did not seem to be an obituary, although it concerned details about his life in the past tense (which made ME somewhat tense).

I went to the web, and found the following link to the same story that I had heard a piece of. But this treatment is text, not sound. Good.

At age 92, Thich Nhat Hanh is here revealed to have stopped taking the medication for the effects of the stroke that he suffered three years ago.

I liked reading (and hearing) the content of the calligraphy he wrote -- "Return" -- which now hangs in the place he inhabits, his original monastery.

It seems he is preparing -- as is the Dalai Lama -- for what the Dalai Lama calls, "Last days". Aren't we all?, but maybe not intensely enough as they are.

Hi Joe,

The reports about Ven Thich Nhat Hahn appear to differ somewhat:

"The Monk Who Taught the World Mindfulness Awaits the End of This Life "

http://time.com/5511729/monk-mindfulness-art-of-dying/

"Thich Nhat Hanh’s health “remarkably stable,” despite report in TIME"
