the saints and the recluse

Post by bokki » Mon Nov 27, 2017 12:47 am

so, these three saints decide to spread the wisdom to far away lands,
so they employ this ship to ship them..
but, during this long journey
the ship was forced to stop
at an unihabited island.

but, when the three left the boat,
they found that the island was not uninhabited,
since there was this sole man, some kind of recluse.

and the recluse asked the saints
for a teaching.
very happy with this, of course,
the saints offered a mantra!

The recluse was very thankfull for this,
the saints very pleased.
so they returned to boat, and resumed
the journey.

but, after some time,
they saw a fire quickly aproaching the ship
on the surface of the water!

when the fire, in no time,
reached the ship it stoped!

amazed, the saints saw the recluse
walking on the water in a fiery blaze!
they could not beleive it.

""Recluse, please say what do you want!!??!!""

"Sirs, i forgot the last half of the mantra,
could you please repeat it!!"

"Recluse, your mantra is enough, no need for any more!!!"
Another log on the fire,
10,000 frogs singing in the rain,
burst into flames.

Thanks bokki enjoyed that.

There was a young monk in China who was a very serious practitioner of the Dharma.
Once, this monk came across something he did not understand, so he went to ask the master. When the master heard the question, he kept laughing. The master then stood up and walked away, still laughing.
The young monk was very disturbed by the master's reaction. For the next 3 days, he could not eat, sleep nor think properly. At the end of 3 days, he went back to the master and told the master how disturbed he had felt. When the master heard this, he said, "Monk, do you know what your problem is? Your problem is that YOU ARE WORSE THAN A CLOWN!"
The monk was shocked to hear that, "Venerable Sir, how can you say such a thing?! How can I be worse than a clown?" The master explained, "A clown enjoys seeing people laugh. You? You feel disturbed because another person laughed. Tell me, are u not worse than a clown?"
When the monk heard this, he began to laugh. He was enlightened.

This one isnt that funny, sometimes thats worth a laugh

Life Lessons = Ardent Advice
1. You can always fit into "Larger Shoes"
2. You can wear as many "hats" as you like
3. If the red rubber nose fits, wear it.

That is a great story Bokki.

‘Only in India’ :x

(Actually I read something slightly similar lately, although a little more homely. A Christian scholar-saint was visiting a monastery where one of the monastics was known to go into trances and levitate. When he visited her cell, indeed she was some distance off the ground in ecstatic trance. He made a remark that, from this perspective, it made her feet look really big; which obliged her to come out of that state so as to be able to tell him not to be so rude.)
The most important thing is not at all important.
