In response to Fuki's nice photos of the goats posted in the other thread (in "I Am Zazen", in Beginner's Space), and the one just above, here are a few "stamp"-related images of relevant animals on stamps from 1956 issued by Canada, philatelic items which I obtained recently.

Those are very nice Joe.

My father collected old letters/stamps, I sometimes go through them and read letters/postcards people send to each other.

Thanks, Marcel, and good to hear of that fine practice of your Dad. Glad you have those artifacts saved-up by someone who valued them and was able to pass them on. I hope I can do the same!

Here's a photo of "something" entirely different: a "Cooper's HawK", which is a very common and beloved bird-of-prey in the Sonoran Desert, and in many places in USA. Well, TWO photos.

This is a JUVENILE bird, photographed three days ago. I've been on a short retreat since, and have not had opportunity to log in and post until now. Photos are re-scaled (smaller... ) from the original 24 mega-pixel Nikon images. The setting, or place, is my back yard at home.

Wow, what a dream, nothing close like "that" in my back yard.
too bad I can't see the original file would love to zoom in on those feathers and other details. (on my pics right mouse click -> view image->+)

One of my fav meetings/pics I took this year (canon coolpix p900) is this little friend I met in the dunes a few hundred meters away from a pond in the forest. A frog is a pretty exotic find for me.

Happy new year to all that celebrate the concept, may the dharma/practise be strong.
I was out all night again looking for a missing dog, sadly many dogs and cats get missing/killed here due to ego-humans and their fireworks for weeks now, it's pretty bad in Zandvoort, millions of birds in stress and other wildlife in danger, mostly from 13 year old boys (see video) luckily my cats aren't afraid of fireworks, hope the same for your cats Joe.

Not sure what xmas euros are but I spend all my donation money this year but I'll keep it in mind for the next round in 6 months.
We have similair organizations here I sometimes support but the euros are low since 80% of my donations are based on animal rights support.
Great to see the kids taken to a LA hockey game, I have the same dream for little ceasars arena (detroit) but in health that is.
ps does any of the donation money go to cancer research too or is it all spend on "make a wish"?

A ball is about to fall, on the east coast of these Colonies.

Two hours later in my desert in this cowtown, avid gunners will illegally shoot pistols into the air (I'll keep my head down).

I think it's already the New Year in Europe, though! Who knows what they do, there: It's a diverse people-scape.

Wishing strong practice to all, 365 new days, in order to exert within, and settle-in. :namaste:

I always avoided the Times Square gathering, but sometimes went with sweetheart into Central Park, under fireworks, even when it was foggy, and we became covered in official NYC firework paper ashes, and snowflakes.

O', Days gone by... .

New days, beckoning! Can't and won't resist.

Happy New Cheer,

--Joe

Rain and snow expected here tonight at our 2500 foot altitude in "the valley", so we are not immune from Winter as some may think. But "Winter" here lasts about 6 weeks, and then I'm planting-out my tomato-seedling-starts, again.
