Dunno, but I'd like it if you two would recommend music to me while I do the work! I'll bring the Ale.

Yes!, he used a milkweed seed-head in the first episode of his "Cosmos" series, didn't he.
I gave my mom the whole dvd series, she's in love with it, and him, her nickname is Mariposa...

Did somebody say Music? OK; Here's a good, energetic piece. M. Praetorius' "La Bouree", one piece of dance music from Terpsichore.

(Michael Praetorius, 1571-1621)

Gotta love that 16th-Century rock-and-roll... . ;)

Good to see you again, Crystal! And I like your avatar of lapidary stones and crystals very much, Kudos.

Recently I bought a used ring that I'd first seen advertised on Home Shopping Network ("HSN") a few years ago, which reminded me in appearance of my high school graduation ring, 'yea' all those many years ago. :) All I could remember about it was that it was Sterling-and-black, and that the stone was of "Watermelon Quartz". That seemed a good description to me, because the stone's color looked on TV about the color of watermelon, or maybe more pale, actually, like watermelon more near to the rind than the deep red as at the center.

What luck!: on eBay I looked for a "watermelon quartz" ring, and there it was! And the maker or jeweler was right (the same), too, one "Nicky Butler", I was reminded.

So now I have my H.S. ring PLUS this ring too. About the "new" ring, I like the "Deco" aspect of the .925 Sterling a lot, and the stone really does have a rare and impressive color, quite as advertised and pictured. It's a bit ostentatious for a demure fellow like myself, but sometimes I throw caution to the wind. I like more to think of it as "elegant" (like some Mathematics). :)

Now, my question to you (off-topic!), is: Is there really a stone or crystal you know of called "Watermelon Quartz"? Or, was that just an informal way of their referring to the color of this quartz crystal? And, do you know which mineral or element is responsible for the tinting of the quartz to this fine color during crystallization in the earth? Thanks.

I believe the stone is genuinely a crystal and not glass, as it's COLD to the touch when you first touch it before wearing, not like glass, an insulator, which is WARM to the touch. BTW, you may know that diamonds are sometimes called "Ice", in the argot of the underworld of jewel-thieves (now, how would I know that?), because of the super high thermal-conductivity of Diamond, higher even than any metal such as Silver, or Copper. It just sucks the heat right out of you. Try it!, a handful of diamonds, and then a handful of Paste: you'll feel the difference, I assure you. Now, to get a handful of diamonds... . ;)

Hi Joe, good to see you again too!

I really like that ring, the stone is an unusual colour. I've heard of Watermelon Tourmaline (described as coloured "pink enfolded in green") but not "Watermelon Quartz". Its also not mentioned in my crystal books....and I don't have any information concerning the colouring of crystals, sorry.
Now, to get a handful of diamonds.....
I've never been very keen on diamonds or other incredibly expensive jewels , I'd rather have my crystals or some pretty little pebbles found on a beach!

How sad. I still can't figure out how to figure out the directions you all sent me. The Youtube video doesn't seem to want to post when I place its URL between the Youtube bookends.

I will just have to do it the old fashion way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0v_pu6miJ8

Kind yes, educative, check.
But kids come with "making" them "responsible citizens" or something and that involves, planning, anticipating, "worrying" even? Which isn't my cup of tea, so they might grow up feral or at least furry.

Happy concept day!
