My initial reaction, when seeing this tiny text area where we post messages, was to try to insert at least one letter there, maybe a small "i", or ".", or something as small as an atom, or an electron, or maybe a very small piece of nothing. That failed.

The next thought, as hosting providers tend to often change things to "upgrade" them, was to verify that maybe some content restrictions were implemented like "content security policy (CSP)" HTTP headers, which would prevent the external scripts to load. That was not the case.

The next other thought, was that maybe one or more external scripts became corrupted. That was not the case either. All linked script were loadable -- following their respective links.

Finally, when these versions all proved wrong, I started to seek any reports on the Internet of similar symptoms described (like a very tiny text box where we cannot type). That enlightened the situation, and what was actually "upgraded" -- it was the version of PHP on our server, which crashes forums that run on phpBB 3.2 or earlier if upgraded to PHP v 7.4 or later.

The downgrade to PHP 7.2 has resolved this sort of a bug. Thanks Clyde for your fearlessly materializing this downgrade.

Here is how they report a similar problem on the phpBB support forum:

https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2563331

It happened the same day as here (Aug 11, 2020).

I was posting images without issue, after I received help with the initial issues I was having, then when I went to post more I received an error indicating the image was too big- I was using a cell phone camera, not a camera-camera-
