jump to the water (how will you learn to swim)

This is Dogen's dropping off body and mind

My Chilean brother, Victor, certainly (1932-1973).

Te recuerdo Amanda

by: Víctor Jara

Te recuerdo Amanda
La calle mojada
Corriendo a la fábrica
Donde trabajaba Manuel

La sonrisa ancha
La lluvia en el pelo
No importaba nada
Ibas a encontrarte con él

Con él, con él, con él, con él, con él
Son cinco minutos
La vida es eterna en cinco minutos
Suena la sirena

De vuelta al trabajo
Y tu caminando
Lo iluminas todo
Los cinco minutos

Te hacen florecer
Te recuerdo Amanda
La calle mojada
Corriendo a la fábrica
Donde trabajaba Manuel

La sonrisa ancha
La lluvia en el pelo
No importaba nada
Ibas a encontrarte con él
Con él, con él, con él, con él, con él

Que partió a la sierra
Que nunca hizo daño
Que partió a la sierra
Y en cinco minutos quedó destrozado
Suena la sirena
De vuelta al trabajo
Muchos no volvieron
Tampoco Manuel

Te recuerdo Amanda
La calle mojada
Corriendo a la fábrica
Donde trabajaba Manuel

Thank you. The antidote to "black days" perhaps.

I have this on vinyl. They added vocals on this live performance. Works for me!

OK, forty years and a couple of days ago, our Forefathers brought forth upon this Continent a new Nation... . ;)

The Grateful Dead, with "Scarlet Begonias" on New Year's Eve, in NYC, 1978; and, a track to follow that, dunno. I was in the Park, with my Significant-Otheress, under snowflakes, and fireworks debris. Good to catch up with the concert, here, not that we missed anything! ;) --Joe

Scarlet Begonias

by: The Grateful Dead

As I was walkin' 'round Grosvenor Square,
Not a chill to the winter but a nip to the air,
From the other direction she was calling my eye,
Could be an illusion but I might as well try, might as well try.

She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes,
And I knew without askin' she was into the blues.
She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls,
I knew right away she was not like other girls, other girls.

In the heat of the evening when the dealin' got rough!,
She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff.
As I picked up my matches and was closin' the door,
I had one of those flashes, I'd been there before, ...been there before.

Well I ain't often right but I've never been wrong,
Seldom turns out the way it does in the song.
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Well there ain't nothin' wrong with the way she moves!,
All scarlet begonias or a touch of the blues.
And there's nothing wrong with the look that's in her eyes...
I had to learn the hard way ,to let her pass by, let her pass by.

Ohh-h.

The wind in the willow's playing "Tea for Two",
The sky was yellow and the sun was blue,
Strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hand,
Everybody's playing in the heart of gold band, heart of gold band!

Songwriters: Jerry Garcia / Robert Hunter

It's Mazzy Star, with their (1996) "I've been Let Down".

(a common lament... ) ;)

Hope Sandoval, vocals; Jason Roback, guitar.

I've Been Let Down

by: Mazzy Star

(Oct. 29, 1996 release)

I've been let down
And I'm still coming round
I've been put down
And I'm still coming round with you
Coming round with you

Take away everything if it feels fine
Catch a shape in the circles of my mind
Make me feel like I belong to you
Make me feel it even if it ain't true

Catch a train on a silver afternoon
A thousand miles and I'm gettin' there too soon
Take me there, when I should be going home
Tell me why I'm still feeling (all) alone

I've been let down
And I'm still coming round
I've been put down
And I'm still coming round with you
Coming round with you

Songwriters: Hope Sandoval / David Roback
