Another performance of ..."same"!

This one is in the U.S. of A., July 7, 1970, at Tanglewood, in Lennox, Massachusetts, USA.

See and hear our guitarist friend playing the Gibson SG guitar, and jumping a lot. Wow. :ugeek:

This performance in USA is recorded only a few months after the great performance and recording in Leeds. Here, we get to see video (film... ) of the "actors". 8-)

Best wishes for strong practice!

i will adress a few issues in one post, since i do not like or care to post all over the place.
1. teachers, meido. r., gg, or jundno.c, are absolutely necessary for a zen forum. lets listen to d 1 now here, m.r, and follow his advice.
2. elg, what? where r u going? lol? what? u just began a good thing..where r u going? lol! how strange!
3. dan, thank you, you are really doing some good..i dont c any necessity for "handing over any reins..
4. if meido has time or the will to b a moderator, so b it. but, id rather see him as a teacher in residence, something like ät zfi, and not bothered with moderating, but only with the teachings..but, he surely knows best.
4. whats up with mcdougdoug, the dog? he was a good mod, moderated me a few times..but, y is he not in the pic 2?
5. this will really have to go slowly. now instead of opening many fora, which i think is very good, id suggest dans idea, fill the library with all the possible free links u ppl know of.idk, zensite, bdk, anything, since i do not know.
6. we could repost some old stuff from zfi, its not like its copywrighted. pics, music, toughts,etc..
7. there are many zennies out there, ill add i few i did not mention earlier, who r still mostly silent..
fukaststu, org(enver), spike, teresa..r just a few i remember now, but many more...

FINALY! joe, the who song ýoung man' just broke my bank, a download 4 sure, top! townshend, daltry, moon and entwistle ...lol..i never saw that b4! sooo good!
btw joe, 75 or so retreats? lol man! a surprise a day with u folks, id say.

Hi Boki,

Thank you for many suggestions!

I'd like to respond and follow up but... one of the things I'd like to see happening here, is keeping threads on topic, which helps maintain a momentum for a focused discussion.

Most of your post belongs in Suggestions or maybe Forum Status, where it would be right to discuss it. I know you said you don't like or care to post all over the place, but I think you should make this effort. It works heaps better - people click on the music thread to explore music and would not expect to see posts on forum development and suggestions. This is why we actually do have difference places, and not one big jumble of posts. When we do get the ToS, this will surely be in them, as in every other Forum I know.

Boris Grebenshchikov (The founding father of Russian rock): song "Came to drink water"

I came to drink water, can't recognize it's taste
I came to drink water, but can't recognize it's taste
Iron bars through wings are thrust,
The source strangled with golden dust,
Shut the door, I shouldn't return to this place.

From Pink Floyd's record, "Piper At the Gates of Dawn" (August, 1967).

Flaming
by: Pink Floyd

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown
Yippee!, you can't see me
But I can you

Lazing in the boggy dew
Sitting on a unicorn
No fear!, you can't hear me
But I can you

Watching buttercups cup the light
Sleeping on a dandelion
Too much, I won't touch you
But then I might

Screaming through the starlit sky
Traveling by telephone !
Hey ho, here we go
Ever so high...

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown
Yippee!, you can't see me
But I can you.
Best wishes for strong practice!

This was a part of my earliest life, and was something I heard on my sisters' or brother's 45 RPM small vinyl records of the late 1950s and in earliest 1960s.

I didn't know how to find this artist and his work until today, when I asked my 77 year old sister about it. She gave me key-words of what the narrator or singer uttered, to wit, "...Is that's what's troubling you, Cousin?", to refresh my memory; and, "Voila!"; Here is what it all comes to:

"Eddie Lawrence: The Old Philosopher"

Hiya folks.
Ya say ya lost your job today?
Ya say its 4 A.M. and your kids ain't come home from school yet?
Ya say your wife went out for a Corned Beef sandwich last weekend - the corned beef sandwich came back but she didn't?
Ya say your furniture is out all over the sidewalk 'cause ya can't pay the rent, and ya got chapped lips and paper cuts, and your feets all
Swollen up and blistered from pounding the pavement, looking for work?

Is that what's troubling ya, fellow?

Well lift your head up high and take a walk in the sun with dignity and stick-to-it-ive-ness and ya show the world, ya SHOW the world where to get off. You'll never give up, never give up, never give up... that SHIP!

Hey there friend.
Ya say your radiators never worked all winter and now that its summer they started up again, and ya can't turn them off?
Ya say your wife sent your light-weight suits to the cleaners, and that means you'll have to wear your itchy tweeds this morning when they say it'll hit 106, and ya gotta meet an important business man in an hour and your bridge just broke and ya pasted it together with bubble gum and ya hope it don't fall apart while you're doing some fast talking to this man?
And - and your shoelace just busted and ya opened a big cut on your cheek trying to
even-out your sideburns and your daughter's going out with a convict, and your wife just confessed she gave your last sixty dollars as a deposit on an air-plane hanger?

Is that what's troubling ya, friend?

Well, lift your head up high and take a walk in the sun with dignity and stick-to-it-ive-ness and ya show the world, ya SHOW the world where to get off. You'll never give up, never give up, never give up... that SHIP!

Hey there, cousin. Ya say ya can't pull your car out of the mud and you're in the middle of nowhere and it's pouring rain and ya can't get the top back up and your paycheck's all blurred and your foot went right through the gas and your girl's screaming bloody murder she's scared of the dark and a stroke of lightning splits your motor in half and your suit's shrinking up fast and ya start up the windy road on foot, and sixty yards of barbed wire hits ya right smack in the PUSS and ya both fall down in the mud and then a wild animal comes over and runs away with your SHOES, and your car blows up suddenly and your windshield-wiper ends up in your mouth and ya can't move and the mud's rising up to your nostrils and you're sinking fast and ya don't hear your girl screaming anymore?

Is that what's on your mind, cousin?

Well, lift your head up high and take a walk in the sun with dignity and stick-to-it-ive-ness and ya show the world, ya SHOW the world where to get off. You'll never give up, never give up, never give up... that SHIP!

And now, ...this is the Old Philosopher saying, so long!, folks!

Where is the purpose in your life
Where is the truth
Do you remember your hopes Your dreams
They are no longer your own
This day is for loving your own life
Don't let this world capture your heart
Your passion lost to a thousand themes
Surrendered to the screen

This is not a story
This is not a book this is your life
And this is not in place of
Some TV show you've seen
This is real life
You know that
This is your this is your life
This is your this is your life

You act like a child
Playing games now
Play and pretend the art of disguise
Alone and lost in all your lies
This is not a story
This is not a book this is your life
And this is not in place of
TV show you've seen
This is real life
You know that
This is your this is your life
This is real this is real life
There is no rehearsal
No second chance
No false start no
Better circumstances

This is not a story
This is not a book this is your life
And this is not in place of a
TV show you've seen
This is real life
You know that
This is your this is your life
This is real this is your life
This is your this is your life
This is your life (repeat)

Yessir, and madams; old business.

And it's about (USA, State-side) aerial drug-smuggling (long ago).

But the artist's super skill on guitar and vocals is so outstanding that it outshines any well-intentioned topical suppression. ;)

See here, then, it's Stephen Stills, of Texas. And, of "Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young". His, "Tree-Top Flier", after he'd gone independent: "solo"; in his career).

The "seven-dials" refers to the seven instrument-dials of the simple USA propeller-airplane often flown by USA soldier pilots in Vietnam on reconnaissance missions, etc. Pilots there became very skilled at flying LOW... , and fast. Once home again -- if they survived -- well, they found things to do with their aerial training and skill. Or else, not. :namaste:

"Treetop Flyer"

-- by Stephen Stills

I could be a rambler from the "seven dials";
Don't pay taxes 'cause I never file
I don't do business that don't make me smile
I love my aero-plane 'cause she got style
I'm a treetop flyer!
Born survivor... .
I usually work alone.

I'll fly whiskey, ...ANYTHING but guns...
Bush-league pilots, they just can't get the job done
'cause you got to fly down in the canyons, you never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run
I'm a treetop flyer!

I fly LOW, I'm in high demand
I go fifteen feet over the Rio Grande
Two-Hundred eighty knots blow the mesquite right up off the sand!
And I'm seldom seen, 'specially when I land.
I'm a treetop flyer!
I'm a Born Survivor
I usually work alone.

People been asking me, "Where'd you learn to fly that way?"
It was over in Vietnam, chasin' NVA
The government taught me, and they taught me right,
Stay down, under the treeline, you might be alright
Treetop flyer

So I'm comin' home, I'm runnin' low and fast
I promised my woman this is gonna be my last
I get the ship down, I tie her fast
Then some old boy walks up, and he says "Hey son" wanna' make some fast cash?
I'm a treetop flyer

Well there's things I AM, and there's things I'm NOT
I am a smugglin' man, and I could get shot
I ain't going to die, I ain't goin' to get caught,
'cause I'm a flyin' FOOL, in an aero-plane, I'm HOT!
I'm a treetop flyer!
Born survivor... .

I usually work alone.

--------------------

(at the end, Stephen says);

"All you Lawyers in the audience,
I'm not advocating breaking the Law,
We're just telling telling a story, here".

Clapton did it, yes, sirree, Bob.
But, here is Jerry Garcia, ...of The Jerry Garcia Band, on November 15, 1991, to weigh-in (independently). :namaste:

That is, to weigh-in on the song... "Lay Down, Sally".

Mazzy Star, from their first record, "So Tonight That I May See" (1993).

Guitar: David Roback
Vocals: Hope Sandoval

Mazzy Star -- "Into Dust"

Still falling
Breathless and on again
Inside today
Beside me today

Around broken in two
'til your eyes shed Into dust
Like two strangers
Turning into dust

'til my hand shook with the way I fear

I could possibly be fading
Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your fate

Under your fate

It was you breathless and tall
I could feel my eyes turning into dust
And two strangers turning into dust
Turning into dust.

I mean I'm pretty sure I shared all songs I can think of twice by now on zfi lol

I say the people of Handsworth, know that
One hand wash the other so they say
So let's join hands my bredren
Make the way for our children (our children, our children)
And their children (their children, their children)
Ensuring that they get life's fair share of...
Equality...
Doesn't justice stand for all
Doesn't justice stand for all
Doesn't justice stand for all mankind
We find society putting us down
Crowning us, crowning us, crowning us, crowning us
A place of Evil, OH, OH
Handsworth means us the Black People
Handsworth means us the Black People
We're taiklng now. Speaking Jah Jah language!

It's a long, long way we're coming from
To send this message across, across
Its been hidden, forbidden, concealed, unrevealed
Its got to come out In the open that -

BABYLON IS FALLING
BABYLON IS FALLING

It was foolish to build It on the sand
Handsworth shall stand, firm - like Jah rock
- fighting back
We once beggars are now choosers
No intention to be losers
Striving forward with ambition
And if it takes ammunition
We rebel in Handsworth revolution
Handsworth revolution
Handsworth yeah yeah revolution
Handsworth revolution
Revolution

Dread town, dread town, dread town
Dread town, dread town, dread town

Dread we are for a cause
Deprived of many things
Experienced phoney laws
Hatred Babylon brings
We know what you got to offer
We know what's going on
Don't want no favours
Cause there is still hunger
Innocent convicted
Poor wage, hard labour
Only Babylon prospers
And humble suffer
They are brothers in south of Africa
One Black represent all, all over the world
Can't bear it no longer
Blessed wlththe power
Of Jah Creator
We will get stronger
And we will conquer
And forward ever, and backward never
Handsworth Revolution

Likewise, Teresa could always balance my shit out, or anyone's shit discussing the "right and wrong" about things, never being on one side of the argument and not afraid to tell "experienced practisioners" or teachers that they were obsessive in their points causing group behavior/division. She always provided an angle of vision which made me realize I did the silo thingy Keith spoke of, so I could see things from different angles. Besides that just a good presence to be in a "room" with, great sense of humour also.

The female Larry now that I think of it
