that was nice, lobster.

this is, again, steel pulse.
GEORGE JACKSON, soledad, solitary , brother!

Steel Pulse - Uncle George (original)
This one's in memory of, Uncle George
We brethrens aware, we sympathize, now rest in peace

George! George! George!
George Jackson Soledad brother
George! George Jackson Soledad brother
George! George Jackson Soledad brother
Malicious, unjust society, he became revolutionary

George Jackson Soledad brother
George Jackson Soledad brother

No three cheers for Uncle George
Baton clap but Lord truncheon make no applause
Weathered face of distortion behind iron bars
Sights of darkness and torture and condemned fate that he saw
They framed him, yes they framed him
Back, back up George,
right now in the morgue
He's rebelling for a cause
Eleven years he's beared the scars of injustice, yeh
Deeper scars remain of solitary confinement
No you can't trust the fuzz
He only stole seventy dollars
He was advised to plead guilty
He got not one year, but life for demanding his rights, George

George Jackson Soledad brother
George Jackson Soledad brother
Malicious, unjust society, he became revolutionary
George Jackson! Soledad brother!

(..)

Prevented, prohibited, from pardon and parole
Just a foolish youth, from backraw man he stole
Now he lies there rotting in a morbid morgue
The Fuzz claimed he suffered a disease call
Rebelling for a cause. Rebelling for a cause
Rebelling for a cause. Rebelling for a cause

Oh Lord, them got George, them shot George, help George!

George Jackson Soledad brother
George Jackson Soledad brother
George Jackson Soledad brother
George Jackson Soledad brother
Malicious, unjust society, he became revolutionary
Confinement confinement, confinement confinement
George, George Jackson..

Ace, another connection we share. Actually I'm wearing the trooper shirt now :D maiden was my 1st band at age 10 thanks to my brother's life after death LP he brought home and part of my holy/hellish trinity (maiden/metallica/slayer)

So cool how the meanings of words change depending on time and the listener, like this one and the fear of the dark one, how much more obvious can it be that theres really no one behind these ears, thoughts, eyes. :109:

Here’s a pairing I favor.

The first is a Bob Dylan song sung by Hozan Alan Senauke:

And the second is by the late Zen student, Leonard Cohen:

“Enlightenment means to see what harm you are involved in and to renounce it.” David Brazier, The New Buddhism

Yes Metallica too, but I never got into Slayer, did not give them enough playing time back then :)
I have not listen to Iron Maiden for years, your vid was reminder.

Leonard and me share the same birth date, and my beloved cat died on his death day, and both "returned" a year later as two golden wings. My current zen tradition was founded by one of the misresses of Sasaki Roshi so there are connections everywhere....

in one of the mt baldy docs you see roshi walking behind and you here this song. I remember as if it were yesterday back in my hardcore satanic metal days I turned on the tv and LC played "suzanne" live and I cried and was like wtf he completely broke me and I'll always be in debt to LC.

Cool, I hardly play any tunes these days unless I'm on the home-trainer-bike, music makes you last just a bit longer and forget about the acidification in the legs. :)
