It’s a dog eat dog world out there ...

Post by [james] » Sun Apr 07, 2019 2:58 am

Is it actually a “dog eat dog” world out there? In my own life it doesn’t seem so but, somewhere in my spirit, I am considering the degree of my naiveté.

Here are a couple of apropos videos, I think.

This second is possibly the most beautiful and stunning Buddhist and Zen film I have yet seen. The human Realm and the animal Realm.

Learning the area. Found a wonderful dog park and trails (priority). Working on lender preapproval for a mortgage loan so I can abandon my temp hovel.

Sunsets and nightlife are amazing. Soon will try to catch sun rising over Atlantic.

Dog eat dog? If you mean over-achieving employees eating under achieving employees, it's mercy killing. If we use our work as an area to practice, we won't fall into that.

It depends where you look and how you look.

In my "own" life there is no dog eat dog mentality (causing harm for a profit/succes)
but if you look at human activity "beneath appearances" there is certainly competition, doing harm for self-gain beneath most activities, I noticed "even" many zen teachers live with their heads in the sand, and really don't want to hear about the harm they're directly or indirectly involved in. We buy products that cause harm to myriad of sentient beings, but who wants to hear about that, we're ruled as economical creatures and animals are merely products.

Lessee: if a dog eats a hot-dog, I'd say all's right with the world! (provided, not too much Nitrites).

It’s not a hot-dog without the nitrites.
So if nitrites are a problem, the dog may as well eat a dog, out there.
Unless the dog consumed itself ate a steady diet of hot-dogs ...

Meaning ... she is someone’s puppet?
Or that her future is disappearing as she speaks?
Something else?

I had no such thoughts Amigo, I just saw the look in her eyes and felt her pressure/anxiety.

Fuki: you and I are "on the same page" regarding eating vegetables instead of meat, for ethical reasons. I am forced to report the video you posted. To me, it is a "snuff video". I fully support and appreciate the moral stand it represents, but it just crosses a line emotionally. No different than what I would imagine watching a beloved pet (or any other creature) being murdered could be equated to. Understand it, but it felt harmful to me to try to watch. Again, I appreciate your taking a stand on this, and I hope things change. Veg burgers are getting a tryout at fast food outlets over here, so there is hope.
