What is mind and what place has no thought in no mind?

Post by avisitor » Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:05 am

What is mind?
How does one recognize this mind? See its existence?
Realize the truth about it?

And what place does no thought have in no mind?
Have heard so many say that no thought is the key
And have heard so many say that no thought is like an iron rod hit over the head method

I think no thought is to bring or clear out the mind itself. still no experience with no mind.

I guess no mind binds the things in automatic.

No replies, no help
Only the unjust answers.

I don't pretend to know the answer
But here are my speculations.
You can correct me or give another opinion.

From moment to moment,
thoughts arise about our experiences and where one goes and what one does and so on and so forth
So where do these thoughts come from?
And why does Zazen or meditation require on to refrain from following thoughts?
It only seems that from the experience of sitting does one actually come to understand the constant flow of thoughts
And maybe to understand what it means.

Refrain from following thoughts, isn't like no thoughts
Cause the moments between thoughts and concentration, this is where practice begins
It is not stopping thoughts that is the real function of sitting
Rather that the beginner's mind finds focus and from there lets go of thoughts
They do not arise. The flow of time is different.

Anyway, guess no one really wants to talk about it. I'll drop this here.

“Enlightenment means to see what harm you are involved in and to renounce it.” David Brazier, The New Buddhism

“The most straightforward advice on awakening enlightened mind is this: practice not causing harm to anyone—yourself or others—and every day, do what you can to be helpful.” Pema Chodron, “What to Do When the Going Gets Rough”

When a perception arises, we don't really experienced its suchness, but rush to categorize- is it something special or the usual thing, is it good (for me) or bad, is it this or that? Build lots of thoughts and stories about it.

No thought, as far as I can tell, is when we rest in that first contact - this arises! This! This!! This!!! If we actually recognize this first moment, it is a huge vibrant massive thing that has no beginning or end. It's right under our noses and we miss it all the time! Because we chase after things, run away from things, because that's what our minds are used to, they've become coarse and miss the most important.

Practice and one day the sun rises in the East.

Exactly what any one of us is experiencing at this very moment is mind.

No place at all. If there is no mind there cannot be mind ... and vice versa

The key to what?
And what do you mean with your last sentence?

Sorry, did not mean to distract from one's practice.
My beliefs are probably wrong.
Please ignore.

Thanks. Have read that many times.
Guess I feel stuck.
It might be time to do something about it?

Don't play too much with the words or especially with the word thought. Or you will get lost in the words or thoughts.
Better try to live it.
If you can't, find a way -to live it.

At the end of my search,
Here i've find a way of living it.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=748

Or that i'm being persuaded for why should i practice.

This being persuaded process took 15 years for me.

Thanks for the words.
However, they are just more words.
And for some reason, people seem to think that throwing numbers at me should some how impress me??
And some even drop names of famous people in Zen??
And then there are some who use quotes from the masters of the past??

Guess mine is words from a song ...
And when it snows, my eyes become larger and the light that you shine can be seen
A kiss from a rose on a grave

I think you need to be being some encouraged.
Like many of us

Many actions I have been done unconsciously seems to stand like an art.
